Turkmenistan to present 1,000 t of flour to Iran

ASHGABAT, March 19 (Itar-Tass) -- Turkmenistan will send a holiday
gift - - 1,000 tonnes of flour to Iran on the occasion of the holiday
Novruz. A corresponding ordinance of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhmedov
was published in the press of Turkmenistan on Saturday.
As is reported, in the current year, Turkmenistan for the first time
in its history became a country-exporter of food grain. Excess of grain of the last year harvest - - 150,000 tonnes of wheat and 50,000 tonnes of flour was put on sale at the commodity and raw materials exchange.
In 2010, the country's harvest of grain amounted to 1.5 million tonnes from 860,000 hectares. In 2011, it is planned to harvest 1.6 million tonnes of grain from the same area.
In 1991, when Turkmenistan declared its independence, the harvest of
wheat amounted to only 70,000 tonnes of grain. And then Iran was the first among neighbouring states which began supplying Turkmenistan with its flour to solve its food problem.
