Kazakhstan tightens radiation monitoring over Japan tragic events

ASTANA, March 18 (Itar-Tass) -- The Kazakh epidemiology watchdog has tightened the radiation monitoring in the country. "Over a tense current situation at the nuclear power plant in Japan the epidemiology watchdog of the Kazakh Health Ministry gave the instructions to its territorial departments to tighten the radiation monitoring," the press service of the Kazakh Health Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry reported that the radiation security monitoring conducted by the sanitary and epidemiological expertise centres in the country showed that "the radiation level remains stable without any excessive radiation levels and no radiation contamination cases were registered in the air tests and the precipitation."
"During the radiation level monitoring daily gamma ray measurements are made, the daily radiation tests of the precipitation and the air and the radiation tests of the foodstuffs are taken," the press service reported.
