Thai people returning home from Japan

BANGKOK, March 18 (TNA) - Groups of Thai people have been returning home from disaster-hit Japan and they have been confirmed no traces of radioactivity by Thai health authorities.
The Thai nationals have been returning from Japan aboard flights of many airlines, including three flights Friday morning. Relatives who waited for the Thai people at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi Airport said the reunion relieved them; while all the returnees told reporters that they were concerned over their safety related to a troubled nuclear power plant in Japan's northeastern region; so, like people of other nations, they decided to fly back home while Japanese people had remained calm. The Thai nationals noted that they will consider whether they will return to Japan when the situation returns to normal.
The Thai people said that it was difficult to buy food and drinking water in Japan following a massive earthquake with tsunami and radiation leaks on March 11, but noting that shortages had not happened.
Meanwhile, Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya confirmed that the Thai government is ready to help Thai people in Japan and has been closely monitoring latest developments, urging Thai people to also follow up official reports from the Japanese government and the United States to prevent confusion as both countries are knowledgeable about nuclear.
