UN human rights advisor Burney arrives Cairo
KARACHI, March 16, 2011 (PPI): The United Nations Expert Advisor on human rights and Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney who reached Cairo, Egypt on Monday to save the lives of 4 Pakistanis, 6 Indians and other crew, even law and order situation is at present not good in Egypt, has established contact with the owner of the hijacked Vessel and going to Suez on Thursday (Today) morning to meet him.
Former Federal Minister for human rights, Ansar Burney for the early and safe release of 4 Pakistanis and other crew members of the Ship captured by Somali Pirates since last eight months and since the health condition of Pakistani national a Captain of the Vessel, Syed Wasi Hassan is deteriorating day by day as he is a diabetic patient, has decided to come to Cairo to meet the owner of the ship.
Ansar Burney also negotiating with the Somali pirates on humanitarian grounds for the greater interest of human dignity and to save the lives of innocent human beings on the Vessel. The pirates had earlier demanded $5 million for the release of hostages.
Ansar Burney said that since the Egyptian owner of the Vessel M.V. Suez refused to support the effected families and no more cooperating with the families for the release of Pakistanis and other national crew members even stopped their salaries, the Ansar Burney Trust on humanitarian grounds had decided to meet Abd ElMeged Matar an owner of the Vessel in Egypt to involve him in the negotiations with pirates for the early and safe release of crew members of the Vessel.
"The condition of the hostages was critical as they had been sailing in the Somali sea for past nearly eight months ."They were being given some boiled rice and fish with sea water by their captors". International Ambassador for Peace and human rights, Ansar Burney added.
Burney said that Indian crew members are NK Sharma, Satnam Singh, Parshad Chohan, Sachin Padoran, John Rose Bisco, Ravinder Singh and Pakistani crew members are Syed Wasi Hassan, Ali Rehman, Syed Alam and Mohammad Muzammil.
MV Suez was hijacked by the Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden on August 2, 2010, with 6 Indians, 4 Pakistani, 4 Sri Lankans and 11 Egyptians on board, said Burney.
