THAI to suspend flights to Tokyo if radiation beyond 100-km radius

BANGKOK, March 17 (TNA) - Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, has announced that it will suspend its flights to Tokyo if radiation leaking from a nuclear power plant in a disaster-hit area in Japan's northeastern region appears to be beyond a 100-kilometer radius.

THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand said that the national airline has offered its flight services to Japan as usual, but THAI has prepared an immediate evacuation plan for Thai people in Japan once the leaking radiation reaches the alarming level.

Piyasvasti acknowledged that THAI flights would fly to Kansai, Osaka and Nagoya Airports instead if the national airline's aviation services to Tokyo's Narita and Haneda Airports must be suspended for safety reasons. (TNA)
