Ukraine's company Energoatom ready to help Japan

KIEV (Itar-Tass) - The Ukrainian Company Energoatom could
help Japan in liquidating the consequences of explosions at its nuclear
power plants.
"We are not standing aside from the problems of our Japanese
colleagues. We are ready to offer our help judging from our experience,"
Yuri Nedashkovsky, who heads the company, said on Wednesday.
Nedashkovsky told parliamentary hearings devoted to overcoming the
aftermaths of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident that Energoatom
had submitted its proposals to the Ministry for Emergency Situations.
Nedashkovsky added that Energoatom had set up a special group for
monitoring and analysing the situation at Japanese nuclear power plants.
He also said that Ukrainian nuclear power plants would be tested for
seismological resistance and that nuclear power experts would draw
conclusions proceeding from the current situation at the Japanese nuclear
power plants.
