SPM Club Cricket: P & T Gymkhana thrashed Stag to enter final
LAHORE, March 16, 2011 (PPI): P & T Gymkhana overwhelmed Stag CC by 52 runs to enter the final of first SPM Club Cricket. They gave no room to rivals in the first semi-final at Ali Garh Ground, Model Town after raced to 292 in 75 overs per side match. The chief guest Fahim Malik presented Man of the Match Award to Khaqan Arsal for fine batting display. While talking on this occasion, Syed Azhar Zaidi, former Pakistan cricket team manager and head of P & T Gymkhana that produced stalwart like Aleem Dar, said.
“We played a solid game and we gradually looked more comfortable as the game unfolded. Our collective efforts deserve high marks, which means our individual efforts are also worthy of praise. We have an important number of players who can perform at a similar level to each other. This squad is rich in quality. Today, Khaqan proved why he is an important player.”
We intend to be contenders to win the final as well and in semis we proved we are ready to do so. It’s important to be competitive and we are managing to be that. We have a large enough squad and high spirits to face any challenge. We cannot betray our own history and we’ll fight to the end,” added Zaidi who praised SPM Head Aizad Sayid and coach Shahid Anwar too for high-quality event for clubs.
