Thai air force to deliver necessities to Japan

BANGKOK, March 16 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Air Force will use its C-130 aircraft to deliver 3,000 bags of necessities from the royal Friends in Need (Of “Pa”) Volunteers Foundation to disaster-hit Japan from March 17 and 18.
Colonel Thanathip Sawangsaeng, Thai Defence Ministry Spokesman, said on Wednesday that the Thai relief packs include four containers of winter jackets, 1,000 sleeping bags, rice and 9,000 cans of dried food.
The spokesman revealed that the Thai Ministry of Defence and the Royal Thai Armed Forces have also been prepared to take other action or provide additional assistance to Japan once ordered by the Thai government. They include three search teams, each with three military dogs and 18 officers, as well as medics, and medical supplies to be provided by the Royal Thai Army's Veterinary & Remount Department.
According to the spokesman, the Royal Thai Army also plans to make a financial contribution to the Japan's Self Defence Force; while the Royal Thai Navy is ready to deploy its 1,000-ton HTMS Similan, along with over 100 officers, to transport consumer goods and medical supplies to Japan and to pick up Thai people who want to leave disaster-affected areas.
