Four militants, two police men killed in encounter in Mardan
Peshawar, March 15, 2011 (PPI): On March 15, 2011 at 08:15 AM the police received information that some miscreants, probably militants were present in the graveyard of Shahdand, Par Hoti Mardan and planning for sabotage activities.
On receiving information a raiding party headed by DSP City was arranged while conducting search for the arrest of miscreants/militants, they (miscreants) opened indiscriminate firing over the raiding party. As a result of firing Inspector Mazhar Shah, SHO Police Station Hoti and ASI Mukhtiar Khan embraced Shahadat while one Constable namely Abid received bullet injuries.
On spreading the message over control room, all the police of Mardan Division heading by both the District Police Officers Mardan and Swabi rushed to the spot and cordon the area and search operation was started against the miscreants/militants in the area.
After locating them in the village, Sadullah Khan Kotay, Fatima Road, all the four miscreants/militants were shod dead after a severe encounter and exchange of firing between police and militants. Besides the police officials also received bullet injuries. They included; Inspector Fazal Raziq, SHO Police Station Toru, SI Umar Badshah, SI Nihar Ali, SHO Police Station Choora, ASI Askar Ali, Constable Tahir, Constable Pirzada, Constable Zahoor and Constable Nizar.
FC Tahir and SHOs Toru and Choora being serious were referred to LRH Peshawar for treatment. One passer by namely Mohammad Riaz S/O Sher Bahadur also sustained bullet injuries due to firing by the militants. This was stated in a press note issued by the DCO Mardan on Tuesday.
