Contaminated tools of beauty parlours spreading hepatitis


Karachi, March 15, 2011 (PPI): Secretary Health Sindh Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi said more than 300 beauticians in Karachi and Hyderabad would be given the vaccination for Hepatitis B and C in order to save them from these fatal diseases.

This he said in a seminar in Dow University of Health Sciences organized by Health Foundation and a local newspaper on “Awareness about prevention from Hepatitis”. It was attended by some 500 beauticians from Karachi and Hyderabad.

He said that the screening and training to the beauticians would help to stop the deadly disease which is laudable move. He said that the Hepatitis disease is increasing in the country rapidly due to contaminated apparatus of beauticians.

A member of the Health Foundation Dr Sehar Qaiser informed septic apparatus is being used most of beauty parlours due to which beauticians are suffering from many diseases like Hepatitis B & C.

He informed that all the beauticians present in the seminar get registered and their screening procedure would be started soon and the patients suffering from the disease would be treated.

Sindh Hepatitis Control Program Manager Dr Majeed Chutto said that pamphlets regarding prevention from hepatitis would be distributed in the beauty parlours in Karachi and Hyderabad in order to create awareness about Hepatitis.

Dr. Khalid Niazi and the representative of the newspaper Shaheen Siddiqui also spoke on the occasion.
