FIRE RAZES FURNITURE PLANT
Semarang, C Java, Aug 23 (ANTARA) - A fire ravaged a furniture factory on Jl Tambakaji VI here on Saturday, causing a material loss of more than Rp2 billion.
Christianto, the factory's manager, sustained a wound in his back when he jumped out of the building to save himself. He was later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No casualty was reported in the blaze.
Eko Prayitno, the factory's chief, said the fire was believed to have originated from a cardboard factory close to the furniture plant's finishing room.
Police are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
"We will continue to investigate the cause of the fire by, among other things, studying the report that the fire originated from the cardboard plant," spokesman for the West Semarang police Adj. Coms Garjita said.
