WB to increase assistance to Yemen next year

In a statement to Saba, head of the coordination of assistance in the ministry of planning and international cooperation Nabil Shiban said that the WB has decided to raise the assistance to Yemen foryear from 2009 to 2011.
Shiban added that talks would be held next September and October between the Yemen and International Finance Corporation to discuss tends of the development support for Yemen in water, education, energy, technical assistance, roads and projects of social fund fordevelopment and public works.
He said that such increase reflected significant progress in relations between Yemen and the bank.Last September of 2007, the bank announced development support from $ 90 million to $ 135 million as the half of it was as gift for Yemen.AH
