Hypertension control must to save heart, kidneys
KARACHI, March 15, 2011 (PPI): The department of Nephrology, Liaquat National Hospital conducted a public awareness program regarding World Kidney Day on Tuesday 15th March, 2011.
The program was focused on ‘Protect Your Kidneys & Save your Heart’ and the effect of Hypertension & Diabetes on kidneys and measure for its prevention.
The Head of Dept. of Nephrology, Dr. Kunwar Naveed Mukhtar discussed in detail about the hypertension related kidney diseases in Pakistan and all over the world and recommended for aggressive control of hypertension to save both heart & kidneys.
Assistant Prof. Dr. Farzana Adnan highlighted the diabetic kidney involvement and emphasized on early diabetic management.
Assistant Prof. Naila Asif, Nephrologist, LNH & Head of the Dept. of Endocrinology, Dr. Khalid Imam; were the other two expert panelists who took the interactive session among the audience.
Free check-up and Blood sugar & Urine Tests facilities were also provided to the patients to motivate them to pursue regular physician check-ups and test for early identification of diabetes & hypertension or kidney diseases.
