Russia in permanent contact with Tokyo, IAEA over Japanese NPPs
PARIS, March 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
said if collective measures are needed in connection with the situation in
Japan, such assistance will be provided to Tokyo. Such is the position of
Russia and other G-8 states, Lavrov said so after a ministerial meeting in
Paris on Tuesday.
Russia is in permanent contact with Tokyo and the International Atomic
Energy Agency over the situation around nuclear power plans in Japan, he
underlined.
"Our rescuers are already working in Japan," the Russian diplomat
said, Moscow is receiving the necessary information from Japanese
authorities and the IAEA. "We feel control over the situation. No Russian
citizens have been hurt in the disaster," he added.
Lavrov stated Moscow's "full solidarity" with the Japanese people.
"We're providing all the assistance which the Japanese government
requested," he said.
