UK AMBASSADOR PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Mongolia Mrs. Thorda Abbott-Watt presented Tuesday diplomatic credentials to the President Ts.Elbegdorj. After the ceremony, the President received the ambassador and discussed with her issues of the Mongolia-UK relations and cooperation.
The State Head has mentioned that the relations between the two countries have entered a new level becoming thus more pragmatic based on common values and mutually beneficial collaboration. "Our countries are getting more interested in each other," the President has said.
Noting that many foreign companies are interested in Mongolia and that our mining sector is becoming vital in the development of Mongolia, the President has underlined that the bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade sectors have been widening. "The relations between our countries, especially in the educational sphere, have gained achievements," Ts.Elbegdorj has stressed. He has expressed a hope that a number of Mongolian students to study in the UK will increase.
The President has said the London Stock Exchange (LSE) agreed to help Mongolia's Stock Exchange (MSE). He has expressed a hope that the British Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State Mr. William J.Hague will visit Mongolia.
"I have received invitation from Oxford Union Society debate club. Hopefully will have opportunity to deliver a lecture in this outstanding club," the President has said.
At the end of the audience, the President wished the ambassador successes.
The ambassador Mrs. Thorda Abbott-Watt is a professional diplomat. She has worked in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office as well as in diplomatic missions in Paris, Brussels, Bonn, the European Union office, Kiev, Belgrade, Dushanbe and Kabul. In 2008-2009, she worked as the UK ambassador to Mongolia.
