Court-(SC dismisses Ishtiaq Ahmad, from services )

Islamabad, March 15, 2011 (PPI): Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has imposed the major penalty of dismissal from service upon Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmad, Private Secretary (BPS-18) due to his wilful absence from duty during his period of deputation at Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat.

Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Ex-Private Secretary remained absent from duty w.e.f. 16.1.2010 to 8.6.2010 when he was working on deputation with Federal Tax Ombudsman Secretariat Lahore. He was directed to report at Quetta and instead of joining duty over-there, the official sent applications on medical ground and managed to obtain medical certificates which were found to be inadmissible.

Meanwhile, FTO office was directed to conduct detailed departmental inquiry against misconduct/wilful absence on the part of the official and submit report with recommendations. On receipt of inquiry report, the official was issued Final Show Cause Notice and on his furnishing reply and after affording him the opportunity of personal hearing, the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan was pleased to impose major penalty of dismissal from service under Rule 4 of the Supreme Court (Appointment of Officers and Servants and Terms and Condition of Service) Rules, 1982.
