Israel intercepts 'arms-laden ship'

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 15 /Trend/
Israel's navy has said it has intercepted a ship suspected of carrying weapons to fighters in the Gaza Strip some 200 nautical miles off its coast, Al Jazeera reported.
"The boat departed from a port in Turkey and was travelling to Egypt under a Liberian flag," a navy spokeswoman was quoted by the AFP news agency as saying.
She added that the vessel was carrying "various weapons and the assessment is that they were to be transported to terror organisations in the Gaza Strip".
Neither Egypt nor Hamas have responded to Israel's claims.
Israel has previously accused Hamas of shipping arms through Egypt.
A separate report said the ship was German-owned and operated by a French shipping company, and had been bound for Alexandria in Egypt.
