Current unrest in J&K costs the industry Rs 5,000 cr: Assocham
New Delhi, Aug 23 (PTI) Social and political upheaval in Jammu and Kashmir during the past two months has cost its industry dearly, leading to losses of over Rs 5,000 crore, industry body Assocham has said.
The sectors worst hit by the agitation are tourism,carpet, cottage, dry fruits and food processing industries.
The state has witnessed widespread protests and agitationdue to the Amarnath Shrine Board land transfer row.
The chamber said if the current situation remains unchanged, exports from the state would be adversely affected adding that efforts should be made to find an amicablesolution to solve the crisis.
"What is needed is restoration of the dialogue process to bring the state back to normalcy," Assocham General SecretaryD S Rawat said.
