PYONGYANG, March 15 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea and Russia discussed
"the issue of perking up relations in politics and the economy", reports on Tuesday the KCNA news agency.
According to the news agency, this idea was expressed here by a
spokesman of the country's Foreign Ministry. He commented on the results of talks in Pyongyang by Russian Deputy Foreign Ministry Alexei Borodavkin in the framework of regular consultations between the two foreign ministries.
According to the North Korean diplomat, the Russian side at the talks "expressed concern over the tension in the Korean Peninsula, pointing to the importance of improving relations between the North and the South in translating into life several tripartite projects with Russia's participation".
In this respect, he continued, the sides discussed prospects for
building a gas pipeline from Russia to South Korea via the North Korean territory as well as construction of a power transmission line along a similar route. They also touched upon a project of linking up the Russian, North Korean and South Korean railways.
