New AEOI director is a source of pride for Iran

TEHRAN, March 15 (MNA)-- On the appointment of Fereydon Abbasi Davani as Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) director, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, “He (Davani), as a nuclear scientist, is a source of pride for the country and the Islamic Revolution, and attained a special status among the people after the assassination attempt on him by the enemies of the Islamic establishment.”

Selehi declined to comment on whether he suggested that President Ahmadinejad appoint Abbasi Davani as the AEOI director.

On November 29, two Iranian physicists were targeted by terrorists in two separate bombings. Professor Majid Shahriari was killed and Professor Fereydoun Abbasi Davani was injured in the attacks. The two academics were both on their way to work at Shahid Beheshti University in northern Tehran when they were attacked. The police say that in both incidents, terrorists riding motorcycles attached magnetic bombs to the physicists’ cars.
