International conference on Caspian Sea to open in Volgograd
VOLGOGRAD, the Volga region, March 15 (Itar-Tass) - An international conference on the Caspian Sea and its development will open in Astrakhan on Tuesday. It will contribute to increasing Russia's leading role in developing Caspian economic cooperation and stimulate the Caspian Five to intensify inter-regional ties.
Experts from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Iran are planning to discuss the transport strategy of the Caspian region in directions:
North-South and East-West: new energy routes. They will also discuss how to switch over from resource-oriented policy to modernization of the Caspian region and ways of forming a common information space, the
conference's organizing committee told Itar-Tass.
A non-profit organization called the Institute of Caspian Cooperation has organized the event.
