Explosion hits second reactor at Fukushima-1
TOKYO, March 15 (Itar-Tass) - An explosion has hit the second reactor at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power station. There are fears the reactor's cooling system could be damaged.
The radiation level at the station has increased.
The Nuclear Safety Commission reports that the explosion at the
Fukushima-1 second reactor could have damaged its pressure lowering system.
All the personnel who are not involved in controlling the reactor's systems have been evacuated.
The radiation level in Japan's Ibaraki prefecture has exceeded the
permissible levels a hundred times but is said not to be dangerous for
human health.
Seawater is being pumped into the reactor for cooling.
