Japanese delegation in Thailand sends deepest sympathy back home

CHIANG MAI, March 14 (TNA) - The Consulate-General of Japan based in Chiang Mai has expressed heartfelt sorrow for the victims of Friday’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and conveyed appreciation to the Thai public for its unrelenting support.
Japanese Consul-General Kasue Chibata broke into tears this morning, upon receiving a letter of condolence presented mutually by the President of Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organization, and the Chairman of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce, insisting although the Japanese people could never have anticipated such a terrible loss, they will now move onto a swift recovery.
Kasue said, on behalf of the Japanese government, he would like to thank Thailand for the sincere gesture and for all its help in a time of such tragedy, acknowledging the long-established friendly relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Chiang Mai Provincial Administration has opened a donations centre to gather support, with the first lot of contributions expected to directly assist recovery efforts in the Japanese city of Sendai. (TNA)
