Coalition uranium policy unchanged

Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott says he supports the continuing export of Australian uranium despite concerns fuelled by Japan's quake-triggered nuclear emergency.
Mr Abbott said a debate on nuclear safety would unfold following the events in Japan, but coalition policy on nuclear power remained unchanged.
"I obviously support Australia's uranium exports and I think they should continue," he told reporters on Tuesday.
But Mr Abbott said the coalition had no policy to promote nuclear power in Australia.
Mr Abbott said he was pleased that Australian emergency workers had been sent to assist in the search-and-rescue mission in Japan.
