At least 50 militants killed in Pakistan security forces operation in Swat, Bajaur

Rawalpindi, Aug 23 PPI: At least 50 militants were killed and many others injured in Pakistan's security forces operation on Saturday in Swat District of North West Frontier Province and Bajaur Tribal Agency.

In Swat, 40 militants were killed and number of others injured in operation launched today by security forces in Kabbal Tehsil of Swat.

Pakistan Army sources said those killed also include prominent commanders of militants. Two security personnel also got martyred and three injured in the operation.

The forces are successfully moving towards main centre and training camp of militants in Kabbal. Operation will continue till cleansing of area from militants and restoration of peace.

Meanwhile, five persons including three police personnel were killed and 24 others wounded when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden vehicle into Chaar Bagh police station in Swat District this morning.

In Bajaur Tribal Agency, 10 militants were killed in ongoing operation of security forces against extremists. According to official sources, security forces hit hideouts of militants in Tangkhatta, Kiralla and Mullakili areas by gunship helicopters, artillery and mortar fire.

According to another report, five persons were killed and six others injured when a shell landed at a house in Khar, Agency Headquarter of Bajaur today.

And in Kurram Agency, four people were killed and eight others injured today in on-going clashes between rival groups of tribesmen.
