Threats against Iran are on decline: Iran`s speaker
TEHRAN, March 14 (MNA) -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the threats made against Iran by the enemies are on the decline.
Larijani made the remarks in Tehran on Sunday during a speech at a conference on national resistance and passive defense which was held at the IRIB International Conference Center.
“The graph of the threats against the Islamic Republic is not ascending, but rather it shows a descending trend due to the resistance of the Islamic Republic and the people’s perseverance,” Larijani stated.
The era of threats against Iran has come to an end, Larijani said, adding, “Iran is now in a stable situation and they (the enemies) cannot adopt a hostile position toward Iran.”
He also downplayed the current threats against Iran in the political area as idle threats.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior lawmaker stated that the nuclear weapons stockpiled by a handful of countries are posing the most serious danger to the world.
He added certain countries’ alleged support for the nuclear disarmament campaign is just a “pose” because no practical measure has been taken in this regard.
Commenting on the tide of popular uprisings rolling across the Middle East and North Africa, Larijani said that the world’s dictators and the leaders of arrogant countries must take a lesson from these developments.
The hegemonistic powers are seeking to take advantage of the current situation in the Arab world, with the goal of serving their own interests, and Iran is causing them troubles, he noted.
He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Arabs who are seeking a change in their governments, saying, “They have the right to enjoy a democratic system and independence and rid themselves of the yoke of the United States.”
