Radiation background in Sakhalin is normal - regional EMERCOM

VLADIVOSTOK, March 13 (Itar-Tass) -- In Russia's Sakhalin as of 09:00 /02:00 Moscow time/ on March 13 all radiation data is normal, nothing threatens civilians, the regional branch of EMERCOM said.
The round-the-clock monitoring at 36 divisions follows the accidents at Japan's Fukushima 1 and Fukushima 2 nuclear power plants after the powerful earthquake that hit Japan on Friday, March 11.
The Far East meteorology service said that the air flow will move
towards the Pacific Ocean.
"Based on this forecast and on the data we receive from different
sources, we may be sure that radiation threat will not affect the
territory of the Sakhalin region," Head of EMERCOM's branch in Sakhalin Taimuraz Kasayev said.
