Radiation background in all Maritime Territory is normal
VLADIVOSTOK , March 13 (Itar-Tass) -- The radiation background in
Russia's Maritime Territory remains normal, it is under 12-14 roentgen per hour, while the natural level there is 30, the local weather monitoring service said on Sunday.
Monitoring is organized every three hours at 32 meteorology stations. At ten stations the monitoring is made by automatic devices, while at 22 stations the measurements are taken manually.
Experts say that the nature protects the Maritime Territory now, as at this season there are mostly western winds there, and over the coming day the territory will receive air flows from the territory of China.
The round-the-clock monitoring follows the accidents at Japan's
Fukushima 1 and Fukushima 2 nuclear power plants after the powerful
earthquake that hit Japan on Friday, March 11.
