Chinese delegation in Thailand observes 100th anniversary revolution

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) - The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand organised an event in Bangkok on Saturday to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat Sen and to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution in China, a century into the nation’s historic change.
The Ambassador of China to Thailand, H.E.Guan Mu, hailed the “Xinhai Revolution” when inaugurating the event at Grand China Princess Hotel in the capital, calling on the Chinese community in Thailand to join this year’s centennial event, which coincides with the 86th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat Sen's death on March 12.
Ambassador Guan insisted during his speech, witnessed by Sun’s grandson and members of the Chinese Association in Thailand, that the Chinese revolution has yet been truly fulfilled in terms of the revolutionary vision of a “unified China”, as it requires all Chinese communities around the world to realise its importance and contribute accordingly.
When asked to comment on the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), set to be formed by 2015, the Chinese ambassador said he personally expects the regional integration to help solidify peace and economic development for the region, noting that peace has always been China’s main concern for the region.
The Chinese delegation, led by Ambassador Guan, will also hold a series of commemorative events throughout the Thai Kingdom this year, beginning with a wreathe laying ceremony Saturday afternoon on the “Dragon Street” in Bangkok to observe Sun Yat Sen’s official visit to Thailand after gaining China the republic name.
Born in 1866, Dr. Sun Yat Sen has been known as the “father of the Chinese Revolution”, who led the Chinese people against the Qing regime to open a new chapter for a “united China” with the country’s honour, peace and prosperity. (TNA)
