Quake appeal launched in Australia
SYDNEY, March 12, (AAP)- An urgent appeal to help those affected by the deadly tsunami in Japan has been launched.
Save the Children launched the appeal on Saturday, calling for funds to assist children and their families in the areas devastated by the tsunami that struck Japan's east coast on Friday.
Save the Children's Stephen McDonald said the organisation was extremely concerned about the welfare of Japanese children.
"We are calling on Australians everywhere to donate to our appeal so that we can meet the needs of the most vulnerable children and their families.
"Because of the severity of the disaster, parents and children will be extremely anxious and afraid."
It was essential there was appropriate care provided as quickly as possible, Mr McDonald said.
