Russia deputy FM staying on working visit to DPRK
PYONGYANG, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Alexei Borodavkin, who is staying here on a working visit, laid flowers to
the monument of DPRK founder Kim Il Sung on the Mansu Hill. The Russian
diplomat honoured the memory of Soviet soldiers who died for the freedom
of the Korean people at the Liberation Monument.
Answering questions of ITAR-TASS, Borodavkin, who arrived in Pyongyang
on Friday, said that within the framework of regular consultations between
the two countries' Foreign Ministries, he will discuss the nuclear problem
of the Korean Peninsula and the resumption of the six-party talks on
denuclearization of this region. "We'll also discuss issues connected with
bilateral ties," the diplomat said. "I hope for a productive character of
the forthcoming talks which I expect with interest," he added.
During the visit, which will last until Monday, Borodavkin will meet
with First Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan who earlier headed the
DPRK delegation at the six-party talks, Deputy Foreign Minister Kung Sok
Ung who is in charge of relations with Russia. Besides, the Russian
diplomat will have a protocol meeting with DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui
Chun.
