Libyan parlt speaker slams Transitional Council as 'armed gang'

RABAT, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- The speaker of the General People's
Congress (parliament) of Libya, Mohamed Abul al-Quasim al-Zwai, on Friday slammed the oppositional Transitional National Council (TNC),
headquartered in the eastern city of Benghazi, as "a group of armed gangs linked to the terrorist network al-Qaeda."
"This council does not represent anyone," said al-Zwai, expressing his indignation at the fact that European countries were in contact and
interacting with the TNC.
According to the head of the Libyan parliament, Al-Qaeda, which he
claims to be behind the destabilization of the situation in the country,
is using the territory of Libya to create a foothold in North Africa.
"In Libya, the change of the regime is impossible, because the regime is government by the people, and Muammar Gaddafi is the invariable and respected symbol of the revolution," said al-Zwai.
The other day Gaddafi called the members of the TNC "a bunch of
traitors," and accused them of the intention to place Benghazi in Britain' s hands. Later the government of Libya announced a bonus of 400 thousand dollars for the one who will catch and hand over to the ruling regime in Tripoli the head of the Transitional National Council, Sheikh Mustafa Abdel Jalil.
