Pakistanis hostages; Ansar Burney to visit Egypt
Islamabad, March 11, 2011 (PPI): Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International and former Federal Minister for human rights, Ansar Burney in his humanitarian efforts for the release of 4 Pakistanis captured by Somali Pirates eight months ago and since the health condition of Pakistani Captain of the Vessel, Syed Wasi Hassan is getting worse day by day because of diabetic patient, has decided to go to Cairo, Egypt on Monday to meet the owner of the ship.
Ansar Burney said that since the Egyptian owner of the Vessel M.V. Suez refused to support the effected families and no more cooperating with the families for the release of Indians and Pakistanis, the Ansar Burney Trust on humanitarian grounds has decided to meet Mohamed Sobh in Egypt and involve him in negotiations with pirates for the early release of Pakistanis, Indians and other crew members of the Vessel.
The United Nations Expert Advisor on human rights in this regard also met with the Ambassador of Egypt Mr. Magdy Amer, in Islamabad and informed the Ambassador that the owner of the hijacked ship is an Egyptian national and not cooperating with the families of the crew members of the hijacked Vessel. Ansar Burney who already got the Egyptian visa is now leaving for Cairo on Monday.
MV Suez was hijacked by the Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden on August 2, 2010, with 6 Indians, 4 Pakistani, 4 Sri Lankans and 11 Egyptians on board, said Burney.
