NUMBER OF CARRIED FREIGHT ROSE BY 4.4 PERCENT
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first two months of 2011, 2,554.4 thousand freight and 564.9 thousand passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight rose by 107.1 thousand or 4.4 percent and the number of carried passengers rose by 12.5 thousand persons or 2.3 percent.
Due to the increase in carried freight and passengers, revenue from railway transport increased by 6.7 billion togrog 17.3 percent to 45.3 billion togrog in the first two months of 2011, compared to the same period of 2010.
In the first 2 months of this year, 251.4 t.freight and 66.7 thousand passengers (double counting) were carried by air transport. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight increased 10.8 t or 4.5 percent, the number of carried passengers by 22.8 thousand persons or 51.9 percent. Due to this increase, revenue from the air transport increased 4.2 billion togrog or 33.0 percent to 17.1 billion togrog in the first two months of 2011, compared to the same period of the previous year.
