Lahore, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has approved 37 players in the build up for Pakistan National Football team for appearance in fourth AFC Challenge Cup qualifier. The winner of the finals will qualify for the 16th Asian Cup at Australia 2015. Pakistan will take on Turkmenistan (21 March), India (23 March) and Chinese Taipei (25 March) in Group-B encounters at Kuala Lumpur.
Asian Football Confederation allowed Pakistan the bye in the Pre-Qualifying Stage in the event that got under way on 9 February with first legs of four play-offs. Based on the rankings of the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup, the eight lowest ranked were drawn into four two-legged ties with the four winners advancing to the qualification proper. All matches are on a home and away basis scheduled. Unlike in previous editions, there will be no automatic qualifiers and holders Korea DPR, runners-up Turkmenistan and third-placed Tajikistan will have to navigate the qualification phase in order to return to the final phase.

Tajikistan lifted first edition with a 4-0 thrashing of Sri Lanka in an anti-climax final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 16 April 2006. Gilgit, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan(GB), Syed Mehdi Shah has welcome the international investors for investing in GB.
Talking to media persons here, he vowed to provide all facilities to international investors. He said that Gilgit Baltistan is a backward province, adding the time is not far when it would be a modern and prosperous province. He said this dream will come into reality only by utilizing our own natural resources.
Mehdi Shah said he was visiting Islamabad for amusement purpose but to inform President and Prime Minister about the problems, which are confronted to province. He further said there was advancement on the subsidy on wheat from the federation. He informed that WAPDA has paid Rs 660 million for Diamer affectees. Weather (Weather changes after rainfall spell ends)
ISLAMABAD, March 10, 2011 (PPI): The spell of rainfall which lasted for a month throughout the country finally came to an end. The meteorological department states that weather will remain dry throughout the country till 20th March 2011. According to the weather department, most of the areas of Pakistan are no more under the influence of Western winds. As a result of which weather will remain dry in most areas of Pakistan and there is no sign of rainfall in the next ten days. The weather department also claims that average daily temperature is also rising day by day and during next week, weather will get warmer in Pakistan’s Southern and coastal areas.

Crime (Police constable killed in Islamabad)
ISLAMABAD, March 10, 2011 (PPI): A police constable has been killed in unknown gunmen’s firing in New Town Police Station here on Thursday. The gunmen also took governmental arms with themselves. The gunmen opened fire on constable Dilnawaz when he was going on his duty at an examination centre. He died on the spot. The body of the slain constable was sent to the District Headquarters Hospital Islamabad for post mortem.

Emergency (Helicopter makes emergency landing in Islamabad)
ISLAMABAD, March 10, 2011 (PPI): An army aviation helicopter made an emergency landing near the Burma bridge in Islamabad on Thursday. Rescue services rushed to the site of the landing. The pilot and others who had been in the helicopter remained safe. The helicopter, which was on a routine flight, had to make the emergency landing due to technical difficulties.

SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Most of the candidates and their parents have complained that there no basic facilities in most of the examination centres established by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Gujranwala for conducting the annual matriculation examinations for year 2011 in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, in this regard.
They pointed out that the examination centres established in rural parts of Sialkot district even lack the furniture facility and candidates were forced to take examination while sitting on the ground under the open sky. President Traders’ Association Sialkot Khawaja Aamir Suhail has also expressed grave concern over this miserable situation. He alleged that the examination staff was also treating the candidates inhumanly at the rural areas’ examination centres established in Sialkot district. He strongly condemned this practice, saying that the examination staff was also found snatching the answer sheets from the candidates before the ending timings.
BISE Gujranwala has established as many as 133 examination centres this year in Sialkot district for conducting annual matriculation exams. He said that most of these centres have no chairs and no tables due to which the candidates have been facing great ordeal in taking exams. He urged the Chairman BISE Gujranwala to take serious notice of this critical situation and personally inspect these examination centres for redressing the candidates’ grievances, in this regard.

POL: PPP good working relationships with army & judiciary
LAHORE, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Wariach has said that PPP has good working relations with all state institutions including judiciary and army and institutions were playing their role according to the law and construction in present regime. He said PPP has no differences with army and judiciary. The parliament, army and judiciary were playing their role independently.
Address a press conference here at Lahore Press Club (LPC) on Thursday accompanied with Sami Ullah Khan, Dr Fakharud Din, Usman Malik and Orangzeb Barki, PPP Punjab President said that army was fighting the war on terror and even army also arranged a briefing before this operation and all security agencies were fighting the war on terror with the support of government.
Imtiaz Safdar Wariach criticized Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s statement regarding consultation with army and judiciary and said this statement was extra constructional act. He said PML-N leadership was trying to repeat its past history and they want to Zia era but we condemned this political attitude. He said PML-N was denying the peoples mandate and they were hating the elected representatives and institutions. He said no politician has made such demand in history like PML-N leadership.
He said PML-N had not enjoyed good relations during their government and Mian Nawaz Sharif made confrontation with Gen Abdul Wahid Kakar, Gen Asif Nawaz Jonjya, Gen Jehangir Karamat, Gen Ali Quli Khan, former President Ishaq khan, Farooq Leghari and Gen Pervez Musharraf and they could not go long run with anybody due to their attitude.

Distt (Sialkot): Delay in completion of investigations cases causing in providing justice to people
SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): The investigations of as many as 989 different cases in Sialkot district’s all the 26 police stations have been lying pending and incomplete since long and this inordinate delay in completion of investigations of these cases was also causing delay in providing justice to the needy people.
According to the senior police officials, the main reason behind this inordinate delaying in completion of investigations was stated to be a great shortage of police personnel. Now, there were as many as 2200 police personnel for protecting the four million population of Sialkot district. Out of this, most of the policemen were often deputed on political and VIP duties, in this regard.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Sadique Kamiyana has taken serious notice of this situation and has directed the investigating authorities and SHOs to ensure the early completion of these investigations and sending their challans to the concerned local courts. The investigations of 281 cases were lying pending in Sialkot City Police Circle and 212 cases in Sialkot Saddar Police Circle.
DPO told the newsmen that the policemen, wearing plain cloths , have also been deputed outside all the banks in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, for halting the cash snatching incidents there.

Distt (Sialkot): 2 burnt factory workers succumbed to their serious burn wounds
SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): The two burnt factory workers succumbed to their serious burn wounds. Reportedly, two factory workers Bilal Ahmad and Umer Ali (having age of 16 years each) had received serious burn wounds during a fire incident at the chemical godowns while working there in a factory, having business of manufacturing zips, located near village Ghueinky-Daska along the main Daska-Sialkot Road here, late at the last night.
They were shifted to the Sialkot and Lahore hospitals w due to critical condition, where the succumbed to their burn wounds.
Both of the deceased factory workers were laid to rest in their native grave yard at village Ghueinky-Daska. The grieved families have also expressed grave concern and have sought justice and financial compensation, in this regard.
Meanwhile, Child Rights Committee Sialkot District SPARC has expressed grave concern over this nasty incident. District Coordinator SPARC Sialkot Muhammad Arslan Khan confirmed that both of the deceased workers were under aged (having 16 years age each). He pointed out that as per the employment rules the under aged workers (below the age 0f 18 years) were not allowed to job in the factory.
He said that the SPRAC Sialkot would lodge FIR against the accused factory owner for employing the under aged workers at his factory and not adopting the international safety measures. On the other hand, the factory management averted to give comment, in this regard.

Imtiaz Safdar Wariach criticized Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s statement regarding consultation with army and judiciary and said this statement was extra constructional act. He said PML-N leadership was trying to repeat its past history and they want to Zia era but we condemned this political attitude. He said PML-N was denying the peoples mandate and they were hating the elected representatives and institutions. He said no politician has made such demand in history like PML-N leadership.
He said PML-N had not enjoyed good relations during their government and Mian Nawaz Sharif made confrontation with Gen Abdul Wahid Kakar, Gen Asif Nawaz Jonjya, Gen Jehangir Karamat, Gen Ali Quli Khan, former President Ishaq khan, Farooq Leghari and Gen Pervez Musharraf and they could not go long run with anybody due to their attitude.
Imtiaz Safdar Wariach said that PPP would call round table conference and invite all politicians to rid the country on present crisis.

Sport: 4th AFC Challenge Cup: PFF Chief approves 37 players for National Camp : Pakistan get direct entry into Group Stage
LAHORE, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has approved 37 players in the build up for Pakistan National Football team for appearance in fourth AFC Challenge Cup Qualifier. The winner of the finals will qualify for the 16th Asian Cup at Australia 2015. Pakistan will take on Turkmenistan (21 March), India (23 March) and Chinese Taipei (25 March) in Group-B encounters at Kuala Lumpur.
Asian Football Confederation allowed Pakistan the bye in the Pre-Qualifying Stage in the event that got under way on 9 February with first legs of four play-offs. Based on the rankings of the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup, the eight lowest ranked were drawn into four two-legged ties with the four winners advancing to the qualification proper. All matches are on a home and away basis scheduled. Unlike in previous editions, there will be no automatic qualifiers and holders Korea DPR, runners-up Turkmenistan and third-placed Tajikistan will have to navigate the qualification phase in order to return to the final phase.
AFC approved new format for the 2012 edition which was ratified by the AFC Executive Committee in Kuala Lumpur. All eligible Member Associations will compete in qualifiers (or playoff, if necessary). If there are more than 16 teams, the teams are to play pre-qualifying round (Home and Away). The Qualifying round shall consist of four groups of four teams each. The winners and runners-up from each group (total eight teams) will qualify for the tournament proper. Only the eight qualified teams for the tournament proper can bid to host the Finals.
AFC launched the biennial AFC Challenge Cup at Bangladesh in 2006. Tajikistan lifted first edition with a 4-0 thrashing of Sri Lanka in an anti-climax final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on 16 April 2006. Dzhormikhon Muhidinov notched hatrick while Khurshed Makhmudov added other as Tajikistan displayed superior skill and strength to take absolute control.

Distt (Sialkot): Delay in completion of investigations cases causing in providing justice to people
SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): The investigations of as many as 989 different cases in Sialkot district’s all the 26 police stations have been lying pending and incomplete since long and this inordinate delay in completion of investigations of these cases was also causing delay in providing justice to the needy people.
According to the senior police officials, the main reason behind this inordinate delaying in completion of investigations was stated to be a great shortage of police personnel. Now, there were as many as 2200 police personnel for protecting the four million population of Sialkot district. Out of this, most of the policemen were often deputed on political and VIP duties, in this regard.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Sadique Kamiyana has taken serious notice of this situation and has directed the investigating authorities and SHOs to ensure the early completion of these investigations and sending their challans to the concerned local courts. The investigations of 281 cases were lying pending in Sialkot City Police Circle and 212 cases in Sialkot Saddar Police Circle.
DPO told the newsmen that the policemen, wearing plain cloths , have also been deputed outside all the banks in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, for halting the cash snatching incidents there.

Distt (Sialkot): 2 burnt factory workers succumbed to their serious burn wounds
SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): The two burnt factory workers succumbed to their serious burn wounds. Reportedly, two factory workers Bilal Ahmad and Umer Ali (having age of 16 years each) had received serious burn wounds during a fire incident at the chemical godowns while working there in a factory, having business of manufacturing zips, located near village Ghueinky-Daska along the main Daska-Sialkot Road here, late at the last night.
They were shifted to the Sialkot and Lahore hospitals w due to critical condition, where the succumbed to their burn wounds.
Both of the deceased factory workers were laid to rest in their native grave yard at village Ghueinky-Daska. The grieved families have also expressed grave concern and have sought justice and financial compensation, in this regard.
Meanwhile, Child Rights Committee Sialkot District SPARC has expressed grave concern over this nasty incident. District Coordinator SPARC Sialkot Muhammad Arslan Khan confirmed that both of the deceased workers were under aged (having 16 years age each). He pointed out that as per the employment rules the under aged workers (below the age 0f 18 years) were not allowed to job in the factory.
He said that the SPRAC Sialkot would lodge FIR against the accused factory owner for employing the under aged workers at his factory and not adopting the international safety measures. On the other hand, the factory management averted to give comment, in this regard.

Distt (Sialkot): Candidates & parents complains, no basic facilities in examination centres by BISE Gujranwala
SIALKOT, March 10, 2011 (PPI): Most of the candidates and their parents have complained that there no basic facilities in most of the examination centres established by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Gujranwala for conducting the annual matriculation examinations for year 2011 in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, in this regard.
They pointed out that the examination centres established in rural parts of Sialkot district even lack the furniture facility and candidates were forced to take examination while sitting on the ground under the open sky. President Traders’ Association Sialkot Khawaja Aamir Suhail has also expressed grave concern over this miserable situation.
He alleged that the examination staff was also treating the candidates inhumanly at the rural areas’ examination centres established in Sialkot district. He strongly condemned this practice, saying that the examination staff was also found snatching the answer sheets from the candidates before the ending timings.
BISE Gujranwala has established as many as 133 examination centres this year in Sialkot district for conducting annual matriculation exams. He said that most of these centres have no chairs and no tables due to which the candidates have been facing great ordeal in taking exams. He urged the Chairman BISE Gujranwala to take serious notice of this critical situation and personally inspect these examination centres for redressing the candidates’ grievances.
