New industrial zone emerging near Matli
Matli, March 10, 2011 (PPI): A 10km long belt along both sides of Matli-Badin highway from zero point to Tehsil headquarter town Tando Ghulam Haider is emerging as a new industrial zone, named as ‘Larr (lower part of Sindh) Industrial Zone’ by the local industrialists. Until few years back, only Ansari Sugar Mills existed there but within few years Thal Alcohol Factory and Polythene bags manufacturing unit started operation besides around a dozen rice mills are almost established and another dozen rice mills and oil mills are under-construction. Some cotton factories were already functioning in surrounding areas of Matli.
An important PPP of the area is taking efforts using his influence to turn this area into a big industrial zone. Following his efforts, the Hyderabad-Badin road had been handed over to National Highway Authority which built 110ft wide highway from Ansari Farm to Ansari Sugar Mills in the first phase and work is about to complete. In the second phase, the new road would be built to connect this zone to proposed new city of Zulfiqarabad and Karachi port.
The local experts told that the agriculture-based industries would be established here as the area would meet their raw material needs.
