EAST JAVA CLIMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP
Surabaya, E Java, Aug 22 (ANTARA)- Two East Java junior climbers, Aan Aviansyah and Akbar Huda will take part in the World Youth Championship 2008 in Sidney, Australia, from Agustus 27 to September 1, 2008, a spokesman said.
Sulistiyono Dwinugroho, executive chairman of the Indonesian Climbers Association, East Java chapter, made the remarks here Friday, adding that the two athletes have shown good achivement.
"Judging from data on their achievement, I could say that their performance has been steadily improving," he said.
Sulistiyono also said Aan Aviansyah won a gold medal in his first performance when representing East Java in the 18th National Sports Week (PON) held in East Kalimantan recently.
This proves that they have a right to get the priority to compete with climbers from other countries, he said, adding that both climbers would face tight competition from climbers from Europe, China, Hongkong, Korea, and Japan.
Both climbers will be leaving for Australia on Aug 26, 2008, Sulistiyono added.
