Japan plans invasion of Korean Peninsula-Rodong Sinmun
PYONGYANG, March 10 (Itar-Tass) - Japan "is reviving militarism and plans an invasion of the Korean Peninsula," writes North Korea's leading newspaper Rodong Sinmun. In an article published on Thursday it says that Japan has been recently intensifying joint manoeuvres with the United States under the pretext of countering the "outside threat." However, "it is hard to believe" that such statements are sincere.
In fact, according to the newspaper, Tokyo is seeking to strengthen military cooperation with Washington in order to "legalise the overseas operations of Japanese Self-Defence Forces and to carry out acts of aggression against the DPRK and China." In this case, said Rodong Sinmun, the DPRK "will certainly be the first target of the Japanese militarists."
"Their provocative actions aggravate the situation in Northeast Asia,
increase the threat of war in this region," the newspaper warns.
