Russia, DR Congo FMs to discuss trade, economic partnership, Africa
MOSCOW, March 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
and his DR Congo counterpart Alexis Thambwe Mwamba will meet in Moscow on Thursday, March 10, to discuss trade and economic partnership between their countries, as well as the situation in Africa.
"There are different prerequisites for intensifying relations between
our countries, including for enhancing interaction in international
affairs," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.
"The leadership of the Democratic Republic of Congo is committed to
cooperation with Russia, deeper interstate dialogue and broader
cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and other fields," he said.
Lavrov and Mwamba will "have a substantive exchange of views on
international issues and the situation in Africa, and map out promising areas for development of bilateral ties in various spheres," Lukashevich said.
"The Congolese delegation will also have meetings at the Ministry of
Natural Resources, other agencies, and make contacts with several major Russian companies interested in entering the market of that country," the spokesman said.
In terms of trade and economy, the Democratic Republic of Congo, which
is rich in mineral resources and has well-developed industrial
capabilities, "is a forward-looking partner of Russia in Africa,"
Lukashevich said.
