No incident will happen in Afghanistan to worry neighbors:Afghan president

TEHRAN, March 10 (MNA) -- President Hamid Karzai makes assurances that no incident will take place in his country that would cause worry for its neighbors.

“I guarantee that no incident will happen in Afghanistan that would cause worry for the neighboring states,” Karzai stated in a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar in Kabul on Wednesday.

He also thanked the Iranian government for standing by the Afghans in hard times and said, “Iran’s assistance to Afghanistan has led to the promotion of stability in the country.”

Najjar said, “The presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan and the region has not only not promoted (regional) security, but has led to insecurity, increase in the production and smuggling of drugs, and the killing of defenseless people in Afghanistan.”

Najjar also extended Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to Karzai to travel to Iran to participate in the ancient Persian New Year (Noruz) festivities, and Karzai accepted the invitation.
