IGP lauds business community's role for peace restoration in city

Islamabad, March 09, 2011 (PPI): Wajid Ali Durani, Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Islamabad said that business community has always played their positive role for restoration of peace in the city.

He stated this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) comprising of Adil Anees, Vice President ICCI, Tariq Junaid, Executive Member ICCI and Saif-ur-Rehman, Chairman Police Committee ICCI led by its acting President, Muhammad Tauseef Zaman called on him here.

Durrani said peaceful environment is essential to accelerate business activities in the city. In this connection he said measures are being taken to upgrade Islamabad police and community policing is being encouraged, which help resolve general issues. He said that ICCI could solve the problems of business community more competently and helps them to solve the issues in better manner. He thanked business community for extending their cooperation.

On this occasion, ICCI acting President lauded the role of Islamabad police for making Islamabad a safe and peace full city. He said that business community has very cordial relations with Police department and assured that business community fully supports to maintain peace in the city. Islamabad Police with great skills and efficiency has been performing their duties to maintain law and orders in Federal area, he added.

He said that traffic police should consider pedestrian safety and formulate community-pedestrian safety teams and groups which would help to reduce problem of pedestrian. Zaman was of the view that every police official should take initiative for participation in community policing which would enable a common man to get better access to police department and they should focus on community policing by redressing complaints of citizens and ensuring investigation into cases purely on merit.

He suggested that reconciliation committees should be revived in police stations by giving representation to the business community, which helps to solve the issues in better manner.
