33 dams worth YR 2, 2 billion are ready for use
constructed with the cost of YR 2, 2 billion across the country areready for inauguration.
Director General of Irrigation and Water Institutions Engineer Mutahar Zaid said that these water projects are distributed in governorates of Adhale'a, Mahweet, Sana'a, Taiz, Amran, Hudeidah,Dhamar, Ebb, Hajja, Mareb, al-Beidha and Shabwa.
He added that these projects will work on storing great quantities of rain and flood waters and will contribute in feeding ground waters required for irrigation. The dams also will work on protecting agricultural lands, villages and valleys against heavyrains and floods streaming from the mountains.
Mutahar pointed out that the storage capacity of these projectsreaches 2260316 cubic meter.
