Pakistan fighting against illeteracy


Islamabad: "Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has grabbed the capacity of imparting quality education with the help of modern means of communication to needy people across the country at their door step through the talented teachers, in this connection the process of spreading education through video conference under trees would be inaugurated during the current month" this was expressed by Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi while addressing to the 2nd phase of media workshop for Science Faculty arranged by Institute of Educational Technology.

Dr. Sangi said that Umer Kot, Zyarat KaKa Sahib (Nowshera) and two far flung and backward villages of Southern Punjab have been selected, outcome would be received from these areas by execution of the steps taken for educational revolution. He said that knowledge is raised by distribution.

In addition, he said that teachers around the country in general and educationists of AIOU in particular should come ahead to eradicate illiteracy, bringing socio-economic development for success of the country. He said that large number of students have to leave their education in preliminary level because of poverty and AIOU is playing its level best role as compensation of this great national loss.

On the occasion, Qasid Haider, Director, Institute of Educational Technology said AIOU is a distance learning institution and preparation of study books is one of the responsibility of its teachers, our teachers have to write educational Radio/TV programmes beside the writing of unit of the study books.

In the wake of this, each the teacher of all Faculties got script writing training individually as per instructions issued last year by the vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi to arrange script writing training programmes for teachers of all the four Faculties and today 2nd segment is going to be started.
