Strong quake off Japan coast poses no tsunami threat on Kamchatka

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 9 (Itar-Tass) -- A strong earthquake
off Japan's coast posed no tsunami threat on Kamchatka, a source in the tsunami warning center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
An earthquake measured 7.2 points broke out off the north-eastern
coast of the Japanese island of Honshu. The reports about quake victims and damages are being specified. The tsunami threat was issued.
The Japanese weather forecasting service warned that the waves may
reach half a meter. Such high waves will not be registered in Kamchatka, the regional tsunami warning center reported.
