SOME 20 FOREIGN DIPLOMATS TO ATTEND KRAKATOA FESTIVAL 2008
Bandarlampung, Aug 22 (ANTARA) - Some 20 foreign diplmats are scheduled to attend the 18th Krakatoa Festival 2008 in Lampung, a spokesperson of the event's organizers said here Friday.
"Actually, 18 ambassadors have agreed to attend the festival. Two other ambassadors will send representatives and a Russian journalist will also come to this annual event," Fajar of the festival's organizing comittee told ANTARA.
Fajar said the ambassadors would be from the following countries : Argentina, Croatia, Peru, Ecuador, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, Turkey, Spain, Hungary, Romania, Palestine, Russia, Singapore, Suriname, the Netherlands, Greece, Bosnia and Poland.
The festival was part of the Visit Indonesia Year 2008 program and therefore it was given wide publicity, he said.
"Lampung Governor Syamsurya Ryacudu is to open the festival at PKOR Way Halim, Bandarlampung, this Saturday (Aug 23)," he added.
On Saturday evening, there would be a gala dinner and a function marking the signing of contracts between sellers and buyers in the tourism industry.
"The sellers are domestic and foreign tour operators, and the buyers tourism players in Lampung such as hotels and resort owners. Their deals will be related with the Visit Lampung Year 2009," he said.
