French basketball player embraces Islam
QOM, March 8 (MNA) -- Claude Marquis, French basketball player of Tarabari of Qom in central province ,embraced Islam on Sunday.
The 30-year, who has played for France during 2009 EuoBasket qualifiers, signed a deal with Tarabari of Qom in January 2011.
“Marquis showed interest in Islam and we introduced him to a cleric to learn about the religion,” Hasan Afkar, General Manager of Tarabari, said.
Marquis has also played for Cholet Basket and Strasbourg in France Basketball League.
He changed his name to Ahmad after converting to Islam.
Tarabari of Qom is second in Iran’s Basketball League.
