China, Russia need to deepen comprehensive cooperation

BEIJING (Itar-Tass) - China-Russia relations have arrived at
a new level over the past year, China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told
a news conference on Monday.
Over the past year the two countries' relations developed effectively
and fruitfully. The two countries' leaders reached important agreements to
further promote relations of strategic partnership and interaction, he
said.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the
Chinese-Russian treaty on good neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation
and the 15th anniversary of establishment of strategic partnership, the
diplomat said.
"We need to take advantage of this opportunity to further advance
relations of strategic partnership between the two countries," Yang said.
He reiterated that Chinese President Hu Jintao will visit Russia this
year at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.
The two countries need to deepen comprehensive cooperation in
different projects in trade, economy and science and develop regional
contacts, Yang said.
Moreover, China and Russia have "to strengthen cooperation within the
framework of different international and regional organizations and
enhance coordination of pressing regional issues," he said.
"In general, China and Russia are good neighbours, friends and
partners," he said adding that trust and credibility should be the
cornerstone of relations and the guarantee of their sustainable
development.
