WARP Council to meet in Dublin


DUBLIN, March 7 (Itar-Tass) - The Irish capital will host a conference of the Council of the World Association of Russian Press (WARP) on Monday.
"The main topics for discussion include structural changes and content concept of contemporary Russian press abroad; the integration of social media technologies in traditional newspaper and journalistic processes,"
Vitaly Ignatenko, the WARP president, told Itar-Tass.
The conference will draw together representatives of most prominent Russian-speaking media outlets from more than 40 countries who are members of the WARP Council, as well as representatives of Russian-speaking communities from several European countries, public figures from Russia and Ireland.
"An interesting discussion is expected on the subject of "self-
identification" of Russia foreign media and the experience of regional and ethnic media. We will consider the experience of both Russian and other ethnic press in Ireland, " said Sergei Tarutin, a member of the WARP Council and the Dublin-based publisher of Russian "Nasha Gazeta" ("Our Newspaper"), Lithuanian 'Lietuvis" ("The Lithuanian") and Latvian "Sveiks!" ("Hello!").
The WARP Council will also consider preparations for the 13th World Congress of Russian Press that will take place in Ukraine in the summer of 2011.
The World Association of Russian Press (WARP) was founded in 1999 on the initiative of the Itar-Tass news agency. It unites most of the 3,000Russian-speaking printed and electronic media publications that come out in 80 countries.
