War games in North East Asia-threat to peace of intl community

PYONGYANG (Itar-Tass) - The war games, now in progress in
South East Asia, "is a serious threat to peace and stability of
international community", says a commentary, circulated by KCNA, the North
Korean state-owned news agency.
The commentary notes that the joint exercise of the US and Japan,
launched from the Yokosuka naval base at the entrance to Tokyo Bay,
coincided in time with the large-scale American-South Korean manoeuvres
"Key Resolve" and "Foal Eagle".
All this shows that the US "implements its plans for creating a
tripartite military alliance of Washington, Seoul and Tokyo, which is
called by the news agency "an Asian version of NATO". The US "demonstrates
its military potential and consolidates its positions as a military leader
in North East Asia".
KCNA warns that the American administration "should display restraint,
taking into account a premise that military actions in the area of the
Korean Peninsula may result in unpredictable consequences for regional
security". The news agency believes that all efforts should be
concentrated now on "preserving peace in North East Asia and avoiding war
in the peninsula".
