MINISTER RECEIVES MISS UNIVERSE
Jakarta, Aug 22 (ANTARA) - State Minister for Women Empowerment Meutia Farida Hatta Swasono received Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Sabrina Mendoza Moncada (22) in her office here on Thursday.
During the visit, Mendoza was accompanied by Miss Indonesia 2008 Zivanna Letisha Siregar.
"On behalf of First Lady Mrs Yudhoyono I told her that Indonesian women had made progress where they have been represented in the parliament and political parties," Meutia said.
The minister said she also told her guest about Indonesia's efforts to overcome the problem of women trafficking and domestic violence.
Meutia said that Mendoza spoke a lot about how women should behave and empower themselves. "For her, brain, beauty and behavior must be united with professionalism," the minister said.
